What to expect in the therapeutic process:

We have two main types of sessions: initial intake and therapy sessions.

Evaluation sessions:


The intake assessment session is for you and your counselor to get to know each other, discuss your situation, and determine what next steps to take. The first part of the session will involve reviewing all paperwork and answering any questions. Then, your counselor will briefly explain confidentiality and the counseling process. Next, you will share your reasons for coming to counseling. Finally, your counselor will explain what the process typically looks like based on the general goals that you identify together and make a recommendation about how often to meet in the future.


Therapy sessions:


After you and your counselor agree on the therapeutic plan, each therapy session will typically follow the same structure. You will start by checking in and providing general updates. Then, together with your counselor, you will determine what to focus on in that session. Next, you will start working toward progress in the selected areas using therapeutic strategies and techniques. Finally, you will choose the best action steps to take before your next session. Every session will differ based on what is going on in your life at that time. You and your counselor will update your therapeutic plan to accommodate life changes as they happen.


I really enjoyed Peter's style of counseling. From the very beginning, my goals were his top priority; he never had an agenda. Peter helped me see who I really am and gave me practical ways live that out.

I learned a lot about myself and gained a greater understanding of my thoughts. Peter approached the topics that I needed to deal with in a very educated and wise manner. He made me feel like he truly cared about my progress as a person.

This has completely changed the course of my life. I never thought I would be able to confront my past; Peter showed me how untrue that is. He has helped me to walk through all of the pain of my past, and he is still helping me do that for myself.

Peter is awesome! He has helped me understand who I am and how my mind works. I’m able to better control my thoughts, therefore my actions and emotions which was the cause of my problem. So happy with the results!
